Directors

Ondrej Jurik, MSc., is the founding Director of Wellspring Texas. Ondrej received his bachelor's degree in journalism from Charles University in Prague and his master's degree in interactive multimedia from University of Westminster in London. For over a decade, Ondrej has worked at summer camp programs helping children with a range of social, emotional, and learning issues. Prior to founding Wellspring Texas, Ondrej served as Outdoor and Logistics Director at Wellspring New York.


Veronica Reyes, MS, is clinical director for Wellspring Texas. During the school year, Veronica is a school counselor in Texas. She has spent most of her career in primary and secondary education and is certified by the State of Texas in Elementary Education, English as a Second Language, and Counseling. Veronica has also served on the board of the Hays Caldwell Council of Drug and Alcohol Abuse. Veronica earned her Bachelor's degree in Education from Corpus Christi State University and her Master's degree in Counseling from Texas A&M Corpus Christi.


Lora Tilson, is Program Director at Wellspring Texas. Lora graduated from University of Akron in 2003 with bachelor's degrees in both physical education and health education. She has worked as a teacher and personal trainer, and in 2006 joined the Wellspring New York program. For the past two years, Lora has served as Activities Director and then Program Director at Wellspring Academy of California, formerly Academy of the Sierras.


Patricia Grogan, is Head Counselor at Wellspring Texas. She is a graduate of the University of Massachussettes, Dartmouth. She received her B.A. in Humanities and Social Science with a Minor in Women's Studies. She attended Wellspring as a camper in 2004. Since, she has modeled her success by working at several Wellspring programs including: Wellspring New York. , Wellspring Hawaii, and now Wellspring Texas. During the year Tricia works at Wellspring Academy of California as Activities Director for the College Program.


Deb Sweeney Whitmore, Executive Director of Wellspring Texas, was born and raised in the United Kingdom and has been living in the U.S. for the last fifteen years. Deb is an avid outdoor enthusiast, earning her B.Sc. in Sports and Exercise Science from Manchester Metropolitan University. Her experience with the outdoors and camp life began at an early age with involvement in the British Scouting Association and five seasons as a camp counselor. Prior to becoming Executive Director of Wellspring Camps, Deb served as the Program Director at the original Wellspring Adventure Camp. Before joining Wellspring Camps, Deb was a program administrator, course director, whitewater/canoeing specialist, and instructor specialist with the North Carolina Outward Bound School. Her dedication to outdoor education has also given her the opportunity to work with the National Outdoor Leadership School teaching outdoor skills and Leave No Trace curriculum.
